Saint Catherine Center for Special Needs hosted a Dinner Dance at Saint Pius X in Fairfield on February 24, 2017 with a Mardi Gras theme. Parish communities and area group home members gathered for a night of fun, food, and friendship. Over 115 guests with special needs and their families rocked to the music of Herb Ramirez, the D.J.
The Knights of Columbus Council #17 in Bridgeport, provided delicious pasta and salad while the Columbiette Auxiliary brought Mardi Gras beads and prepared cookie platters for dessert.
The Youth Ministry from Saint Andrew in Bridgeport, and Sue Baldwin, Director of Religious Education and Youth Ministry, were the friendly servers and cleanup crew who showed their charitable and compassionate hearts. It was inspiring to see the youth volunteers work side by side with the Knights and dance with the clients.
This event embraced the community and gave us all an opportunity to serve others. There was such joy on the faces of the families and guests as they came together in friendship.
It was a wonderful evening for our friends of Saint Catherine Center, for it brought together youth, family and community.
